Do you enjoy a challenge and finding new ways to twist samples in the most creative way possible?

Would you like to meet likeminded beat makers and producers and have your music heard around the world?

Here I am encouraging you to showcase your skills in my Instagram friendly 'beat battle' by following these simple steps

1] Subscribe monthly - subscription is free but you can also choose to donate as much or as little as you like.

2] Download samples (new ones uploaded weekly)

3] Make your beat

4] Post a video of your beat with the hashtag #HLIGBB or #HarryLoveBeatBattle

I will repost all submissions to the account @HLIGBB and my personal favourites will be shared on my IG page @djharrylove.

Currently this is all for sport and there is no prize to be won on the Instagram challenge. This is something I hope to offer in the future as well as a live event with showcases, battles and prizes. Please consider supporting this venture by choosing to pay an amount when subscribing to the battle, this will help to make the live event possible.

The musical recordings & compositions are NOT royalty free and their use is STRICTLY fair use for demonstration and educational purposes, they are subject copywrite laws and is forbidden to be resold or shared under any circumstances.  You will be liable to pay sample clearance to the original artists if using these samples in a commercial release so please respect this one important rule.

HARRY LOVE BEAT BATTLE BACK STORY

I have always been obsessed with samplers and sample based music since I heard it in songs and asked my musician father how such impossible sounds were made (eg. Malcolm McLaren, Art Of Noise, Tears For Fears, Bomb The Bass, De La Soul etc) 

Since purchasing my first sampling drum machine the SP12 (from Phil Collins collection) I had dreams of performing live at shows with the beat box... a novelty I have managed to achieve a handful of times.

Another later dream was to run a live beat battle night for beats producers from all over to showcase their skills in a friendly challenge.  

Having earned my Hip Hop props in the 90s as a live performer, battle DJ and producer I was fortunate to come up in a time when there was an abundance of places for likeminded people to gather - live open mic nights, DJ battles, clubs, record shops and before the internet people would exchange ideas and information in person.

I have seen these gathering places die out over the decades and this has had a direct impact on upcoming talent.

I propose that this would be a fantastic way to bring back excitement, sharing of ideas and eventually I would hope that prizes and greater opportunities will be afforded to all who participate.

With a view to this becoming a reality I decided to start with a weekly Instagram sample flip challenge and the response has already been OVERWHELMING!!!
